Not only have our cars been more efficient but also much easier gear changes and more performance in acceleration.įor years we ran Honda mineral oil they recommend and we both agreed it's pure trash. 75W90 Gear oil has superior viscosity parameters and lubricates and cools the gears probably 50 times more efficiently than honda mineral gear oil. When we think of our transmissions, we want them to stay as cool as possible for as long as possible. Which therefore makes its component cooling and lubricating qualities almost completely none existent. Mineral oil in itself breaks down rapidly when experiencing high temperatures. So think about the build up over time of impurities in your transmission oil. The oil in your transmission gets very very hot, am I right? It also isn't filtered. Mineral oil does not perform even close to as good as none synthetic oil. You can use what honda recommends, but I would highly recommend against using nasty mineral oil. I removed the hose and used a 1/2" drive ratchet with an 8" and a 5" extension. Remove the fill plug below the hose between the air filter box and the intake.
